Selling on eBay

My First eBay Sale

When I initially got to eBay I was beaming with glee because I knew all I had to do was list my first item and the rest would be so easy. That wasn’t really the case as I did list my first item and it took a couple months to sell it. What made matters even worse was that I had not actually been consistently logging in to check on it. I hadn’t made a sale, so I just stopped and didn’t think about it because it could take a year before anybody even knows I am there. That is until I kept getting this nagging feeling to check my account. I didn’t have access to my computer during this time as it was in the shop. The feeling was strange but it’s like I was being summoned back to eBay.

So as soon as I got my computer back, I logged in and wouldn’t you know it, I had made a sale! About a week ago! And the customer was mad!

I was late shipping it out and I was late replying back to the customer who had left a lot of messages wondering where her boots were. I felt so bad about it. She had reached out to me so kindly each and every time asking until she had to basically demand her paid for product or open a report I still would not have known of until I logged back in. I was embarrassed beyond belief because what kind of shop owner was I and was I scamming people? Of course, I was not so I reached out to her and apologized profusely and let her know I had the product ready to ship but if she didn’t want it, I would gladly just refund it as the shipping label had been printed. But from her replies I assumed she wanted them, so I was just going to send them.

What makes matters even worse is that she was still polite, and I didn’t even want to disappoint her whether she wanted them or not. The label was printed, and the shoes were ready so I let her know I would refund her for the shoes, but she could still have them if she wanted them of course she had to still pay to ship them. She obliged. I refunded her the money for the shoes as soon as I shipped them and again apologized. I let her know that she could leave any review she wanted as she promised she wouldn’t bad mouth me and thanked me for my honesty. I told her she could leave any review she wanted. She had handled it better than me and it was a learning experienced I needed and deserved if she wanted to make a point of it.

She didn’t bad mouth me and she gave me my first review. She said I was honest and in business dealings I like to think I am. I would not want to be cheated so I won’t cheat you. I am very grateful for that customer and for that sale. It took me about another month before I got another one as I only had about 9 items and they were all used shoes mostly for exotic dancers or women that liked knee high tall, stiletto heeled boots. Some are gone some are still there, but my used shoes were my first eBay sale. The best ones went pretty quickly but that first experience taught me plenty.

So, while not super exciting, that’s how it went. My first eBay sale wasn’t even body care it was used shoes I had put up there to “get my feet wet”. eBay allows you to sell almost anything so if my offers expand that’s because eBay let me and I got addicted to reselling.

Thanks for listening…well reading of course.
