What is an Oriental/Amber Scent?
Oriental scents feature spices, resins, and soft florals, anchored by deep base notes like vanilla, musk, and oud and are derived from spices found in the Middle East, South and East Asia. The term Amber is also highly used today as opposed to Oriental because the term can sometimes be seen as culturally insensitive but we will continue to use Oriental as it will resonate as we continue to dive deeper into this warm, rich, scent family.

Oriental Scents are thought to be rich, warm, long lasting and quite inviting. The slow evolution through dry down means the scent changes as you wear it so what starts as bold and spicy can dry down into something smooth, warm and enticing. If you’re not trying to seduce then don’t even think about putting a scent like this on as they are designed to reveal themselves slowly in layers over time like a good seduction.
These fragrances are bold, linger on the skin and leave a long, lasting impression on their victim. They’re often worn in colder months or during the evening because of their intensity and the heat they bring potentially. They are warm, deep, and often a little mysterious, like your lover and have rich notes that feel spiced, sweet, earthy, or smoky or a combination of all those.
Spices like cinnamon or cardamom, give many of these scents their initial or top layers of warmth and then soft floral heart notes or resins open up in the heart layer leaving you wanting more. The base is usually composed of something long lasting and sensual like amber, vanilla, musk, or oud. These perfumes can be described as comforting, seductive, enticing, and anything sultry enough to set the right mood. If you’re into warm spice you will love almost anything in the Oriental or Amber family.
