Vetiver: The Oil of Tranquility
Vetiver reminds you that through nature, everything becomes clear because it is unhurried, unrushed, and over time, unrelenting in its will. Let the beginning of this year be a gentle reminder that a mindful pause to gain peace and clarity is always welcomed in our lives when we have tumultuous moments. Vetiver, known as the oil of tranquility, is aged like a fine wine and was used in India’s ayurvedic and spiritual treatments but became popular in the use of fragrance around the 1980’s. Vetiver is often used in cologne as a base note, providing depth, stability and longevity to a fragrance. Because of vetivers earthy and woody qualities it is…

Azzaro: Wanted
If you want to be wanted by the ladies then Azzaro: Wanted is that men’s fragrance. Although Azzaro came out in 2016 it still stands the test of time as an upbeat, daring and wearable scent for men. It is a sophisticated scent that I think is addictive and very alluring. This scent is irresistible and fresh and undeniably for the pleasure seeker as you will be sought out by every available woman in the room. It makes you want to lean in and ask what are you wearing as it’s screaming to be known; not attention seeking but, rather the star in the room. This scent is masculine, confident…

Leo – The Zodiac Collection by Bath and Body Works
Again, another hit with Leo fine fragrance mist from The Zodiac Collection by Bath and Body Works. This fragrance opens up nice and sweet with a voluptuous smelling gilded berry that shines as a top note. I love that scent. Then it mellows down into a golden petal and even though I don’t know what it is I can smell it and it is nice and floral, I can almost see the color pink. It is a juicy bright pink flower in my opinion softened by a spirited musk which I find I like. It’s a soft cashmere like musk. I love the dry down here as it is very…

What is an Oriental/Amber Scent?
Oriental scents feature spices, resins, and soft florals, anchored by deep base notes like vanilla, musk, and oud and are derived from spices found in the Middle East, South and East Asia. The term Amber is also highly used today as opposed to Oriental because the term can sometimes be seen as culturally insensitive but we will continue to use Oriental as it will resonate as we continue to dive deeper into this warm, rich, scent family. Oriental Scents are thought to be rich, warm, long lasting and quite inviting. The slow evolution through dry down means the scent changes as you wear it so what starts as bold and…

New Year, New Resolutions
With the new year now in full effect, those resolutions have to now become goals and goals have plans. This year I resolve to be present here and on social media as Shay Sends Smiles way more often because I have a lot to give. While fragrance alone has never been my passion I am now seeing how it can shape the atmosphere and change moods all of which are important if you’re into mindfulness. Last year was pretty trying for us all in one way or another and I can’t speak for anyone else but I’m just glad I made it through whole. With that being said, it was…
