How To Create Your Signature Scent Combo’s

How you smell and how you feel often go hand in hand with your level of confidence and self image. We all want to feel good when we go out and a signature scent can really make you stand out or help you to feel more confident about yourself. Your signature scent can really leave a lasting impression on the people you meet especially if it lingers like a sweet aroma that makes them blush or attracts them like a moth to a flame. Your signature scent combo can say a lot about you so be sure to select complimenting scents that blend well together and create a mood or air of mystery.

Introduction to Layering

When you want to create a signature scent combo, you are going to consider layering the scents and swapping out those scent forms to create different combinations that can reflect your moods and or any social standards to which you may need to conform.
By forms I mean, moisturizers, mists, perfumes and body washes if you use those in your signature scent combo. You would want to think of these layers the same as you think of fragrance notes and consider your top, middle and base notes as you put them on.
These layers will then create a new chemistry and a whole new signature scent combination based on your own body’s chemistry and reaction to all of them. This is what makes it your own signature scent. At this point it’s your own body’s chemistry reaction that will give all of these scents their signature lift.

Top, Middle and Base Notes

When I consider my top, middle and base, the top note is always going to be the body spray because it will be the first thing anyone smells including yourself and will fade into the wind the quickest unless your douse your clothing with it, which is permitted. This will help it last longer if you have a long day ahead. When you can’t spray your clothes try to spray your actual body with it.
The middle layer is going to be the moisturizer as it will cling to the skin but also change the chemistry of the base note that you choose as your perfume because you will spray your skin with perfume so it will come into direct contact with it. Now I do advise to apply the moisturizer before the body spray but again consider the notes based on longevity.
Perfumes can linger or waft in the air especially a good citrus or airy scent, either way it is going to be the base because of all the forms it is likely to last the longest and leave the most solid impression. The top and the middle notes just give it a little more razzle dazzle and depth.
one of my favorite scent combinations is Viktor & Rolf Good Fortune and Bath and Body Works Floral Fantasy which I don’t think they make any more but it smells amazing. Both of these scents have been discontinued so it’s even more of a signature scent combination now of course. I liked to layer with with Bath and Body Works ultimate hydration body cream in the scent of Golden Sunflower. It smells like a deep dried floral with a hint of citrus and vanilla. The scent notes are sunflower petals, orange flower & fresh vanilla. It came out in 2020 but I was able to purchase the not so marketable 2022 edition which didn’t live up to it’s design in my opinion.
The design did it more harm than good making it look like a very adolescent scent but it’s anything but that. It is quite refined and definitely layers well under a lot of different scents because of how basic but pleasant the scent is. I definitely like this combo MORE with that as the middle note than anything else or without it.

Signature Scent Savings

My final thoughts on layering and how to create your signature scent combo’s is that you can take a very expensive bottle of perfume and make it last even longer if you are on a budget but still want to smell like a million bucks. You can create different combinations for different occasions and never ever smell the same twice.
It’s really up to you and no one an ever smell just like you which if you’re like me matters a lot. You want to leave a lasting impression that will keep them coming back.
